RUGBY
Much of my childhood was spent on the touchline. My father and my brothers played and, before he retired, my father specialised in rugby and sailing photography.
His beautiful pictures of players on the field inspired me.
So it was a natural progression when my sons signed up to play for clubs and schools nearly two decades ago that I would start photographing the action. Sadly, the lively Sunday mornings sprinting up and down the side of the pitch stopped abruptly when they left for university and explored other sports and activities.
Enter my niece, Holly, who showed first an interest and then a talent. Her enthusiasm was enough to drag me back into perishingly cold Sundays, filthy fields and breath-freezing air – all whilst handling a metal-cold camera, a heavy lens and suspect clubhouse coffee.
I am in awe of the women’s game – tenacity, speed, spark, drive and sharp communication – everything you need for a good photograph and so I decided to make womens’ rugby a focus point alongside the rest of my business.
I am now lucky enough to be affiliated to Surrey RFU and I attend their games as much as possible. I hope that my photographs go some way to raising the profile of the women’s game in a traditionally male field.
If you have a women’s rugby game within an hours drive of Twickenham and need a photographer then drop me an email and start the discussion.

I urgently needed to have a small portfolio of photographs and Gail came as a recommendation. I contacted Gail whose immediate advice helped me organise and prepare for the photoshoot. Before we’d met Gail had done her homework and was really prepared. I needed ‘direction’ and creativity, within a tight timetable and Gail delivered wonderfully.
Chris Dyson – Director at The Big Blue Box Ltd
Gail did the photographs for the NewDawn Partnership new website and we are delighted with the results. She is very understated about her abilities and ran a very professional session for a couple of hours at an off-site location. Her advice and experience in producing quality photography is invaluable, so it is well worth paying close attention to her instructions – it saves a lot of time. I have no reservations about recommending her services.

My session with Gail was fantastic. Gail made me very much at ease, took her time to take a whole variety of shots, and had some really useful tips to make the photos work well. After the session, Gail sent lots of photos for me to choose from, and I was spoilt for choice. I shall definitely go back when my photos need updating, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.
